Zannier Île de Bendor

At Soul & Story Collection, we particularly cherish iconic hotels rich in history and narrative. One such place also happens to be one of the most anticipated openings on the horizon for 2026 in Europe.

The story begins in 1951, when visionary entrepreneur and pastis magnate Paul Ricard acquired the private island of Île de Bendor, just a short boat ride from Bandol. This authentic seaside village is known for its charming harbour, pristine beaches and renowned golf course. Set in an unspoiled corner of the South of France, far removed from the crowded and over-commercialised hotspots further along the coast, the island promises a refined yet relaxed Mediterranean escape unlike any other.

Paul Ricard dreamed of an island without hierarchy—a place where locals and the international jet set mingled freely, bound by a shared love of hospitality, gastronomy, art, culture and the simple pleasure of being together. In the 1960s and 70s, Île de Bendor became a creative refuge, alive with conversation, music and ideas, drawing artists, thinkers and free spirits, many personally welcomed by Ricard himself.

Still privately owned by the Societé Paul Ricard today, the island remains a treasured family asset. In partnership with Zannier Hotels, the island has been meticulously reimagined over the past five years, ushering in a new era while honouring its rich heritage. Iconic elements have been lovingly restored, allowing the island’s original spirit to endure while a new chapter quietly unfolds.

With trade partners, press and discerning travellers eagerly awaiting its debut, Zannier Île de Bendor is set to open for the season on 1 May 2026.
